Bicycle Clinic - Techniques

  • 09 May 2015
  • 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Pavilion at Francis Youth Sports Complex

This first of three clinics in our Bicycle Technique Series will give an overview of the skills and preparation necessary to tackle your first Really Big Ride.  Whether it's a 100 mile Century, 100k Metric Century, or Charity half century, we're here to help you reach your goal!  Big rides require planning, training, and provisioning in order to finish safely and comfortably.  Whether you need a refresher class before the Tour de Cure, or want to set (and reach) a Big Ride goal for this fall, now is the time to take this class!

In this clinic we'll help you choose the right event to work towards.  We'll discuss baseline conditioning and training principles, along with nutrition and hydration strategies.  We'll cover the basics of cycling gear to help you select the proper equipment to go the distance.  Finally we'll outline a 15 week training program with which you'll develop all the skill, endurance, and confidence necessary to finish your Really Big Ride!

While this clinic is focused on first time century cyclists, we welcome experienced distance cyclists to share their observations and training strategies and to learn from each other.  Weather permitting we'll follow the clinic up with a
ride on the Francis trail, so bring along your bike and helmet!
